"Ellerby, a free agent pick up by the Kings last year, was seen as an insurance policy on the health of Willie Mitchell."
I think they got Ellerby for a 5th from Florida.

Do you think toffoli is in the top 6? I need to know for my fantasy pool, not trying to be a Richard. the guy has scored at every level |

Yes, I would say he will take Carter's spot next to Richards on the 2nd line. |

For the most part you never noticed him out there which IMO is a good thing for the type of game he plays.
He made a few bad mistakes here and there but for the most part he's a guy who can fit in well as a bottom pairing. |

He will most def be slotted next to Richards. Thats where he played just a bout all his pro hockey last year. Im a little surprised they didnt recall Pearson over Vey. Since Pearson can actually play LW. |

I think that sums it up very well. For all intents and purposes he was rushed into the NHL with Florida and is still regaining some confidence. A good bottom pairing shut downer. Ceiling is probably a 3-4 shutdowner. Still only 24 so a lot of growth can still be had. |

Skates well for a big guy. He didnt make to many mistakes. But he didnt do anything special. He didnt really excel in any aspect. He will never live up to his draft position. |

If you look at the amount of centers we've had on the bottom six this season it makes sense. It's also possible they try a Richards - Vey - Toffoli 2nd line. If not, Brown is still playing bottom six but looking better and you could easily slot Vey in at 3C next to King/Brown and Frattin and play Stoll on the 4C with Nolan and Clifford. There are some movable part there.
As a whole I like this move. It gives the Kings more offensively oriented options at the forward position than they have had all season. |

I still wanna see Lewis get more time at the 3c spot. If we keep playing Stoll in that role we might as well just trade him and let guys like Vey and Lewis get more time. The idea of Richards Vey Toff is nice. They always made a big deal about putting Richards on the LW with Carter at C. But if people watched Carter takes alot of strong side face offs. They could do the same with Vey and Richards. It would be nice if Sutter would let some of these lines play more. Chemisty takes time sometimes. When he put Carter with Kopi quite a few games ago. It lasted all but like one shift. |

When you look at the way the Kings contracts are structured I'd say the odds of Stoll getting traded this year are very slim. This is a big audition for Vey to see how far along he is. If anything if he proves capable Stoll is moved at the draft this year or at the deadline next year.
If you want to talk about someone potentially losing a job over this if Vey plays well it might very well be Lewis considering he is in a contract year AND a UFA at the end of the season. |

having Vey and Toffoli in with our regular top guys is what I have been waiting for. If they gel in good, in whatever line combos work, and the D finally solidifies (say by......mid May or so) look out! |

Apparently when Lombardi went to Manchester to watch a couple of games he was very and most impressed with Vey and felt he's ready to take the next step.
I'm excited about these 2 coming up. They need to inject some new life into the lineup. It felt like this team started to get stagnant, especially the bottom 2 lines. Hopefully this move turns out like the King & Nolan recalls of a couple years ago. |
